PAC Body is urging Far Oil and Gas Companies to hire Local Talents

The Parliamentary Committee on Social Accounts (PAC) subcommittee stressed that Exploration and Production (E&P) companies operating in the oil and gas sector should be given more priority than Pakistan’s recruitment preferences.

National Assembly MP Syed Naveed Gamar held a committee meeting at the parliament building on Friday.

Committee member Syed Hussain Tariq raised the issue, stressing that E&P companies operating in remote areas of Pakistan should hire locals. According to him, companies do not hire local people, and this is an injustice to local people.

The committee unanimously recommended that oil and gas exploration and production companies hire talented local staff so that the benefits of prosperity could be shared equally.

The committee also considered the Oil Department’s audit objections from 2010-11 to 2017-18. The audit bodies informed the committee about the non-repayment of overdue debts on lines and leases taken from onshore exploration and production companies.

Regulator Naveed Gamar said the problem was that the Oil Department’s documents were inaccurate. He stressed that the documents must be “perfect.”
