ECC Supplements Rs. 747.5 mln for gasification of 85 villages

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Federal Cabinet of Ministers discussed and approved the Rs Technical Additional Grant (TSG). In the current fiscal year (CFY), 747.539 mln.

The ECC meeting, chaired by Federal Minister of Finance and Revenue Shevket Tari, was attended by Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Seyed Fakhar Imam, Prime Minister’s Adviser on Trade and Investment Abdul Razak Davood, federal secretaries and other senior officials. . officers.

In accordance with the Energy Department’s (Oil Department) proposal to supply gas to villages / fields in gas-producing areas within a five km radius, the ECC Rs approved an additional grant. In the current fiscal year, 747.539 million in favor of the Oil Department to further release the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) to facilitate 85 regions.

Two public sector companies, SSGC and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), supply natural gas to Pakistan through an extensive pipeline network. The Petroleum Department applied to the Finance Department and the Planning Department for SSGC’s Rs request. In the current financial year, 747.539 mln.

The Prime Minister said with satisfaction that the gas could be supplied to villages within a 5 km radius of the gas source (Zamzama gas field, Tehsil Johi, Dist. Dadu, Sindh). The Prime Minister is pleased to announce that this principle will apply to all gas fields, and that all gas fields may be preferred to all surrounding settlements / villages within a 5 km radius.

Then, on February 23, 2022, a meeting of the SAP Steering Committee was held and it was decided that the Planning Department would allocate funds for gas supply to villages / neighborhoods within a five km radius of gas production. areas.

The Supreme Court of Sindh considered the case of gasification of villages / regions within a five km radius of the gas fields in Sindh and, on 14 February 2022, summoned the Minister of Oil and Finance on 14 March. 2022. He also revived the Declaration of Reason of 2 November 2020 and explained to the Court why Disrespect should not be prosecuted for non-compliance with court decisions.
